This page extracted from [ CVARS - Cowichan Valley Amateur Radio Society - Repeaters ]

When using the Island trunk please state your call sign, then use DTMF tones to link into the system; listen to make sure the system is not busy, then DTMF tones to connect to the other repeater. Please disconnect in the reverse order.

Using this system

This system allows one to 'turn on' access to the trunk by sending a 2 digit + asterisk DTMF tone to the repeater in your area. Once your local repeater is switched on to the trunk you can send a different 2 digit + asterisk DTMF tone corresponding to the repeater on which you wish to 'come out'. With this system one then can have any repeater working 'locally' only or 'connected to the trunk'.

. As Vancouver Island has many local area repeaters, we enjoy the luxury of leaving this set of repeaters switched 'on' most ofl the time. You can see from the chart above the only exceptions are VE7ISC, VE7RVA, VE7RVR which must be switched to access. Be aware that when you speak you will be heard over most of Vanouver Island!

Please remember to leave the system as you found it. ie. if it was 'on' leave it on; if you had to command it 'on' then command it 'off' at the end of the QSO.

As you will appreciate a system such as this changes often. You can access the current information on this and other repeaters systems at:
