A few pictures from the MIRA 2005 Picnic on the
21st of August at the beautiful home of
VE7PI Syd and VE7SVL Sharon Lee's,
Nanoose Bay.

Pictures of the recent Simulated Emergency Test exercise on Wednesday
the 19th of October 2005.
Thank you to VE7PI Syd, VE7EVS Bill, and VE7IVB Norm for the following
pictures.

Set up began around 07:30 with some on site as early as 07:00. Tony VE7AJN
home brewed the mast and fittings. Hinged base, pre cut guy lines and clips
and hanger for G5RV dipole worked as planned on this very useful and
efficient portable mast.

The field communications centre was set up complete with power from a
fire department generator, lighting, and operating stations manned by Tony
VE7AJN, Len VE7XLH and Lawrence VE7IT. VE7JH Harry was set up to display his
mobile and other mobiles were in attendance, including the very popular bike
hf/vhf mobile by Gil VE7AJZ. The Emergency Social Services station was
staffed by Bev VE7BEV, Evelyn VE7EEW and Dave VA7DT.
Among other things, the object of the exercise was to display to
served agencies such as municipal leaders, fire, police and any other
interested parties some of our capabilities as Amateur Radio Operators,
specifically, in the case of other communications failures. Our exercise
leaders were very gratified that the mayor of Parksville (pictured above
talking with VE7AJN ) and members of his council, along with Shaw TV, the
local paper and many students from Malaspina College as well as others in the
community visited the exercise site.
